Proactive Mental Health Support for the Perinatal Period

  • The Karrinyup Wellness Centre 168 Karrinyup Road Karrinyup, WA, 6018 Australia (map)

After a sold-out inaugural Perinatal Professionals event, we are back with a wonderful opportunity to observe and support World Maternal Mental Health Day in the leadup to Mother’s Day.

Raising awareness of maternal mental health issues so that more women will get treatment and fewer will suffer.
— Goal of Maternal Mental Health Day

Our Guest Speaker

Emma is a mental health nurse with a background in midwifery and specialises in supporting women to debrief their difficult or traumatic birth, postnatal period or matrescence transition through her business EmPower Matrescence.

What you will Learn

Emma’s talk will provide information and support around the following topics:

  • What you can do as a perinatal professional to support your client's mental health in the perinatal period

  • The maternal distress continuum

  • What is matrescence and why do you need to know about it?

  • Signs of postnatal depression and anxiety

  • How birth trauma can impact maternal mental health and what to do if your client discloses birth trauma to you

  • How to make an effective referral for your client to seek mental health support

Networking Opportunity!

After the workshop, there will be the opportunity to introduce yourself and your perinatal business to the other attendees. This will be followed by light refreshments and an opportunity to network.

We appreciate your understanding that there is a small fee associated with this event for hosting and catering purposes. Any surplus collected will be donated to the Not-for-profits we support (you can read about them here).
